Do you Skype? Now you can from your HDTV!

Right now I'm away on a business trip in Texas. Just a moment ago I pulled out my laptop and opened up a Skype session with my wife. Within a few seconds I was able to communicate with her as I would in person, seeing facial expressions, smiles... and, er... scowls! I was even able to play with my son and talk back and forth... so much more interactive and enjoyable than a regular phone call!

For those of you that don't know, Skype is a free service that allows you to video chat with anyone, anytime, across the world or across the street for free! Now you can even Skype via your HDTV if you have the necessary equipment. Currently this is available from Panasonic, LG and Samsung. We recommend Samsung.

So what all do you need?

A Skype-enabled Samsung TV.
Freetalk TV camera for Samsung.
A fast broadband internet connection.
You’ll need to use your TV webcam to make audio calls, too. It comes with a specialist microphone system that’s designed to pick up your voice from the couch, plus it delivers great video quality.

To send High Definition video, you’ll need a very fast internet connection – we recommend 1.2 Mbps symmetrical bandwidth or higher. You’ll need 500 kbps to make High Quality Video calls.
